I dont think anyone is trying to tell you what to do GoalieKid, but rather they are concerned for your well being. Even at the younger levels you never know when a fluke hard shot will come your way. We know that you worked hard for what you have, infact most people here do just that as well. I know that if I had something that I thought was perfectly safe to be using, and someone who knew just a little more than I do came along and told me that it wasnt safe, I would appreciate the advice, thank them then choose to either change it or live with it. Now if someone who is just talking for the sake of talking tries to dole out the advice, then thats a different story!

Default My 2010 Venom Pads with Tribal Graphic

Well the wait is over the post man brought my Pads today........came to Calgary via Sudbury, but they made it here!

The first thing I noticed out of the box was how light they are......much lighter than my Kay pads thats for sure.....I would say about 1 lbs per pad.

The pads are the stock Venom, with the Tribal graphic in my team colours and a sliding toe bridge. The pads are made to fit an ATK of 16" - 17" (stock 33" Venom pad) The over all size of the pads is 35" measured along the face of the pad (so pretty much a 33" +2"). My ATK is 15.75, so its a pretty close fit......giving me a little room to grow LOL

And now for the pictures........

Wow. From the smiley-face Kays to these... you're really doing it up. I dare say you might not even need a jersey! Now if only they made blue cowlings...

How is the flex on the Vipers? Too much/not enough/just right?

I haven't had them on the ice yet, but out of the box they are very flexible. I would say they are like the Bauer Rx9/ Rx10 in who they flex. As an old school stand-up guy trying to figure out this butterfly business I think I'm going to like the flex of these pads a lot.

My pads, glove and blocker. I dont have good pics of the rest of my stuff, although it is not all that exciting anyways lol, my mask is a 9600 that I got painted by Cross Eyed designs, might get a pic of that up, but I am working on getting a new mask shortly. I was thinking of going with a custom Warwick, any suggestions on masks? Looking for something that will fit me properly, currently my 9600 is a tiny bit big.

Custom Brian's Beast Pads. When Brian's made these for me they made them more like a TPS contour, the boot channel was also made smaller for me

Custom Thief glove and blocker, glove has a custom palm in it as well, blocker is pretty much stock.

- The custom graphics were drawn for me by a good friend.

Cheers
Connie

Default My latest find

Found a Cubberly on the bay a few weeks back, cleaned off the old paint job and repadded it. I've wanted one of these since I saw the letter "C" for the first time. Thanks to Ed for the hardware, straps and foam.

Hmm... when did Pro-Masque switch to the 3-ridge design? The 5-ridge thing used to be their trademark, so to speak. I think it's even in their logo on the forehead.

The outside-most ridges are at the temple, just before the mask sides start. Subtle, but they're there.

Now I see them. They look a bit less Klingon than previous models.

Yeah this is by far my favorite mask now. The big face window makes all the difference for me. Gonna be getting another XDK from Matt with a paintjob in the coming months.
